Seminar Title: Synchrophasor based Voltage Stability and Real Time Implementation
Speaker: Anurag Srivastava, Associate Professor, Washington State University
Date/Time: 2013-05-28 10:30
Location: Building 240, 1406-1407
Description:
With the ongoing investments in smarter electric grid, several new algorithms and devices have been developed and being implemented. Adoptions of phasor measurement units (PMU) synchronized by time signal and associated enabling algorithms are critical smart grid technologies, which lead to real time monitoring and faster control. Synchrophasor measurements enable number of new applications at control center for wide area monitoring and control (WAMC) or at substations for distributed control. Real time monitoring and control leads to higher reliability and efficiency of smart electric grid. This talk will present research activities related to voltage stability using synchrophasor measurement and computational requirement for some possible applications of synchrophasor data. Real time implementation of developed voltage stability algorithm using smart grid test bed at Washington State University will be also discussed.
