If you are about to give a talk at our seminar, here is some handy information for you.
Our normal seminar events are on Wednesdays from 10:30am to 11:30am Chicago time. This includes a few minutes to wait for latecomers and introduction, as well as a question & answer session at the end. Most speakers therefore plan for about 40-50 minutes of actual talk time.
The audience consists of people from across the Laboratory for Applied Mathematics, Numerical Software, and Statistics. Depending on the season, we might have everyone from senior researches to summer students in the audience. In other words, your talk should cater to a wide audience where almost everyone has some maths, numerics, statistics, optimization, programming knowledge, but most attendees are not experts in your particular subdomain.
Our talks are currently held virtually. We use Blue Jeans as a meeting software. Links with meeting IDs will not be posted on this public website, attendees need to request the link or subscribe to our mailing list.
