About Flavio

Flavio Castro is a systems developer at the Data Science and Learning Division at Argonne National Laboratory. He is the lead developer of SciStream, a tool-kit for enabling memory-to-memory data streaming between federated scientific instruments. Flavio is a seasoned Network Automation Engineer with 10+ years in networking. Expert in Ansible, DevOps, Software Engineering, and Agile methodologies. Proven track record in managing large-scale network automation projects via Infrastructure-as-Code.

Tekin Bicer
Research Scientist

About Tekin


Tekin Bicer is a computer scientist at Data Science and Learning Division. His research interests include parallel and distributed systems, high-performance computing, and machine learning. He has an extensive publication record on large-scale image analysis problems. His works have received several high-profile recognitions, including the Best Paper award at SC’20 and Top Recognition from SCinet Technology Challenge at SC’19.  Dr. Bicer received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering Department at Ohio State University in 2014, where he studied large-scale computing systems that address data management and analysis problems on high-end clusters and cloud compute resources. He is a senior member of IEEE and ACM.

Joaquin Chung

About Joaquin


Joaquin Chung is a postdoctoral appointee at the Data Science and Learning Division at Argonne National Laboratory. He received both his B.S. in Electronics and Communications Engineering (2007) and his M.Sc. in Communication Systems Engineering with Emphasis in Data Networks (2013) from University of Panama, Panama. He received his Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Henry Owen and Dr. Russ Clark at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA in December 2017. He is a Fulbright alumn, an IEEE member, and an ACM member. His research interests include software-defined networking, software-defined exchanges, cyber-infrastructure orchestration, edge computing, network security, and quantum communication networks.
