Mihai participated to the DOE Grid Integration Workshop on Nov 1-2 2012. Quite a few people already knew about the center (I was approached by people from Georgia Tech, LBNL, etc) with a lot of nice words.
Modeling, simulation, and integration of models and tools is on a lot of people’s agenda, but also are more fundamental endeavors, where I think we may have a chance to show a way forward. I pushed for various things that were both relevant to M2ACS as well as relevant to the workshop: the notion of spatial scale – temporal scale coupling, quantifying information in data to lead to rational decision making, standardized frameworks or interfaces for modeling.
Also here were Henry Huang from the M2ACS center, as well as Sandy Landsberg, Mark Petri, Jianhui Wang, from the people we know or work with.
